Parker

Meet Parker, one of our Client Service Representatives who also works as a Patient Care Coordinator. Parker joined our team in July of 2023.

Why did you decide to work at Frontier? The culture! This is a workplace I can be unapologetically myself and that is very hard to find in this career field. I also love to learn and have found all of our doctors and support team members are always willing to share their knowledge and experiences, taking advantage of every teachable moment. Both keep me coming back for more every day.

What’s the most inspiring part of your job? This is going to sound very weird, but honestly it is when we are helping a family say goodbye to their furry family member. Whether it is a family that has had and loved the pet since they were young and now it is a senior at the natural end of its life, or a young pet saying goodbye far too early, or a cherished foster that had only been in its safe place for a short time, the love in the room shared by the humans that brought them to us and all of us staff is a moment that bridges a gap that is otherwise typically there between owners and staff. And in the cases when the family member’s feel unable to be preset, and it is left to us to love and comfort the pet in the end, the love that flows from every staff member to the pet and each other is a reminder of why we do what we do, and it is nothing if not inspiring.

What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job? I have a lot of compassion and empathy for everyone I meet. I also have a drive to be constantly learning and growing, which makes a career like this perfect for me because there is always something new to do and learn each day.

What do you think is your coworkers’ favorite thing about working with you? I like to think I’m a pretty goofy person so they enjoy my sense of humor, but I also hope they all know that I am someone that is always here for them, no matter what.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? (if you don’t have one for this, no worries!)I don’t know if it is the “best” piece of advice I have ever been given, but it is a recent one from a book I just finished this week (I am a bit of a bookworm). The character said “change is neither good nor bad, it just is, and it is how you respond to it that decides how you will feel about it”.

Tell us about your pets! Ask me about my furry goofballs in person, I would love to tell you all about them!

What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working? Reading, shopping at my favorite book store (The Corner Bookstore in Beaverton, which supports the local library!), playing games (board games, online, DND, or whatever) with friends and family, and volunteering at Pride events at the Free Mom Hugs booth giving hugs out to anyone in need.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Oh this is a hard one! I think teleportation. Maybe if I could just teleport to where I needed/wanted to be when I was ready, I wouldn’t be late to things as often as I am with ADHD!

If you could invent a holiday, what would it definitely involve? National fresh hot pretzel day where workplaces are required to have a freshly made pretzel stand for the staff to eat free.… Or national coffee and book day where you’re required to sit and drink free coffee and read all day.

If we held an office talent show, you’d wow everyone with your skills at… Probably my art. Not a lot of people know I do pretty elaborate and abstract watercolor painting and are usually really surprised by it when they see some of my pieces.
