Kim

Meet Kim, our Practice Manager. Kim has been working at Frontier since September 2016.

Do you go by Kim or do you have any nicknames?
Just Kim! My family has always called my Kimberly, and my friends and co-workers have always called me Kim (or my initials- KLH). I’m happy to respond to anything as long as it’s not Kimmy!

In your words, what is your job at Frontier?
I’m lucky to be part of the management team here at Frontier. I handle a little bit of everything throughout the clinic, mostly focused around our inventory system, benefits, and budgeting. I am a total inventory nerd so I surprisingly love it! I am also the practice manager of our sister hospital, Beaverton Pet Clinic. Besides that, I’m always available to any other staff member or client who might need assistance with something- I wear many different hats throughout each day.

Why did you decide to work at Frontier?
I moved from Chicago in the summer of 2016 and spent a lot of time researching area clinics and possible jobs out in the Portland area when I came across Frontier through a connection in the veterinary world. When I first walked in the door, I immediately felt at home. Everyone was SO nice and friendly, and the hospital is beautiful! I was so worried when I was applying for jobs that I wouldn’t be able to find a clinic I loved working at as much as my previous one in Chicago, and then I found Frontier. It was an instant fit, and I feel very lucky to be a part of such a fabulous and skilled team.

Do you have any pets?
I do! I have always had black animals my entire life, so it will come as no surprise to those that know me that I now have a black Lab mix named Cora! My husband and I lost our longtime dog and cat within a year of each other during the pandemic, and when we decided we were ready for another dog specifically stated that we didn’t want a puppy. What did we get? A puppy. Luckily she is a perfect little wild black dog (adopted from Texas), and our house is starting to feel complete again.

Tell us a little-known fact about you!
I have been riding horses for most of my life and used to compete all over the Midwest and throughout college on the east coast. At one point I worked at a show horse barn that also had a private zoo attached – giraffes, zebras, orangutans, cheetahs – you name it! We would be riding around outside and could hear the wild animal calls! I’m also a die-hard John Candy fan, and I should be embarrassed to admit Uncle Buck is one of my favorite movies.
