Dr. Miranda Briggs

Dr. Miranda Briggs was born and raised near Lansing, Michigan and received her undergraduate degree in environmental science and Spanish from the University of Michigan in 2020. She went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University in 2025.

While Dr. Briggs has always had a love for animals, she had not fully considered a career in veterinary medicine until her first volunteer experience in college, providing veterinary care as an assistant to underserviced communities. She then developed a deep desire for helping animals and continued to work as a veterinary assistant for the next 6 years throughout both her undergraduate and graduate education.

After graduation, Dr. Briggs moved cross country to join the Frontier Veterinary Hospital team. She is Fear Free Certified and has a special interest in dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and preventative medicine; she hopes to one day incorporate honeybee medicine services into her career. She enjoys building connections with her patients and their owners and will happily take the time to properly explain things to put owners at ease.

Dr. Briggs now lives in Portland with her husband, Daniel, and their three cats – Gibson, Oswald, and Sylvie. If she is not reading a book about magic or dragons, she is likely spending her free time partaking in various other hobbies – assorted arts and crafts, hiking, camping, rock climbing, and bingeing shows with her husband (and cats).

Do you have any nicknames?

Most of my friends and family call me Manda, but I’ve picked up many over the years: Manda Panda, Mirf, Randy, Queen Mirandoa of Ambrosia (it’s a long story…) — the list goes on!

In your words, what is your job at Frontier? Any special projects or responsibilities?

To help owners make the most educated decisions on their pet’s care. I aim to be an advocate for the voiceless and help strengthen the human-animal bond between owners and their fur babies. My special responsibility is wearing a new fun pair of earrings every day —maybe one day I’ll have a different pair for every day of the year 🙂

Why did you decide to work at Frontier?

I was initially very impressed with how well-run the clinic was and how effectively everyone worked together as a team. The team members at FVH were so kind, welcoming, and a little silly goofy. I knew this place would be home after my first day!

Do you have any pets? If so, name/age/description. Any special skills or fun features?

I have 3 cats. Gibson, my oldest orange man. Oswald, my middle tuxedo child (who definitely has middle child energy). And Sylvie, my youngest, black, fluffy, sweet baby angel.

Tell us a (or several!) little known fact(s) about you!

– I’ve been to 16 National Parks, and my goal is to visit all of them one day.

– I’ve been vegan since 2016.

– I didn’t have a pet until I was going into high school, and now I simply can’t imagine a life without a little creature (or creatures) running around my house!
