Meet Rachel, one of our Technician Assistants. Rachel joined our team in May of 2019.
Hi Rachel! Do you have any nicknames?
Yes! I’ve gone by Ray, Rach, Rachey, and Wilson.
In your words, what is your job at Frontier?
I am currently cross-trained as a hospital attendant and technician assistant, majority of the time I am a TA so you will see me coming in and out of exam rooms to bring patients back to the treatment room, helping hold for exams, treatments, and answering client questions they may have. Majority of the time Doctors will ask me to go in and talk to clients about muzzle conditioning their pets given my background in dog training. Other days you will see me as HA where my job is the care of our boarding patients coming in and out of the hospital, telling clients how their pets did during their stay, making sure their fed and happy, giving boarding tours, and helping with TLC’s (best part about the job). I also help to keep the hospital nice and clean.
Why did you decide to work at Frontier?
When I came in for my interview the managers were great about answering any questions I had about the hospital, but also by the questions they had asked me. They showed from the beginning that they care about their employees and their wellness. Then once I met everyone else in the hospital I knew I would be quite happy working here, doing what I love most, working with animals, and helping to educate clients.
Do you have any pets?
I currently have three! I just adopted a cat through Bonnie Hays, you may have seen him in our adoption display in the Frontier lobby, his name is Horton! He is a very curious, cuddly, handsome 2 year old gray and white domestic short hair. He loves to nap in your lap, and when he isn’t sleeping he is sunbathing or running around and playing. Kenai who is a 3 year old Boxer/ Golden Retriever mix who was my very first baby. He is very nervous with new people but once he’s comfortable with you he’s the sweetest snuggly boy ever. We’re currently working on mastering his tricks to one day get his trick title! But when we’re not training he loves to just be outside and running in the open spaces, which makes him a great hiking buddy. Leia is a 2 year old Labrador retriever mix who is my spunky high drive dog who literally jumps off the wall! She is incredibly smart and loves to work, and anything water related is her favorite thing.
Tell us a little known fact about you!
I was born and raised in Hawaii so it’s always nice to see clients who are from or have visited my beautiful home. I love to listen to country music its always playing in my car, at home, and at work when I’m HA. I love anything and everything strawberry flavored and love all things that are fruity candy. I also am a big basketball fan, player, and coach!
