Certified Veterinary Technician
Do you have any nicknames?
A select few people have the honor of calling me “Mare,” and even fewer call me “Mare-Bear.”
In your words, what is your job at Frontier?
I am a Certified Veterinary Nurse! I get to perform all patient care, from giving vaccines and cuddles to placing IV catheters and monitoring sedation. I love training and helping make sure our patient services team is working at its best. I also help inventory our donated items so we can send them to local animal rescues in need.
Why did you decide to work at Frontier?
I love the friendly staff and how everyone has each other’s backs. Everyone is always willing and eager to jump in and help each other as they care for their pets. I also love the focus on low-stress handling, giving pets the best experience possible.
Do you have any pets?
Belle is a 9-year-old dachshund mix I got from the Oregon Humane Society. She is my little shadow and is crazy smart and cute.
Nala is a 9-year-old pitbull mix. She may not be very smart, but boy, is she sweet!
Cinder is a 10-year-old tuxedo cat. She is more dog than a cat. Her favorite thing in the world is to snuggle with my daughter.
Tell us a little-known fact about you!
Growing up, my dad and I would listen to oldies radio while building jigsaw puzzles. He and I have been known to stay up all night working on a puzzle together and now build none smaller than 1,000 pieces!
I didn’t always want to be a veterinary nurse. When I was younger, I wanted to be a singer/actress. I even came in 3rd place in my middle school’s version of American Idol and starred in the school musical!
