Certified Veterinary Technician
Meet Kelsey, one of our Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT). Kelsey has worked at Frontier since June 2011.
Hi Kelsey! So, do you go by Kelsey or do you have any nicknames?
I normally just go by Kelsey. Most people at Frontier go by their initials, but my initials are KHH, which doesn’t really roll off the tongue too easily. So, people at work normally call me Kels.
In your words, what is your job at Frontier? Any special projects or responsibilities?
I am a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT). At Frontier, I have many different job responsibilities depending upon the day. Some days I work as an Inpatient Technician where I perform dental cleanings and assist the doctors with surgeries. Other days I work as an Outpatient Technician. When working Outpatient I get to work with all the pets and clients that are here for appointments. I draw blood, give vaccines, perform toenail trims, etc. Lastly, I sometimes work as the Inpatient Technician Assistant. One of my responsibilities in this position is creating dental records that are given to our client when their pet has a dental cleaning. These dental records give them a detailed account of what is going on in their pet’s mouth.
Why did you decide to work at Frontier?
The first thing that caught my eye was the amazing facility! Once I learned that the staff matched the facility, I was sold. This is the first clinic I’ve worked at where I feel that everyone truly cares about the patients, clients, and fellow co-workers. I love working at Frontier!
Do you have any pets?
Mowgli (a.k.a.Nugget) is a 10-year-old male domestic shorthair. Mowgli loves to fetch! He’s kind of a snob when it comes to the game though. If you throw the toy too short or it doesn’t bounce off any walls, he won’t go after it.
Tell us a little-known fact about you.
I love playing soccer! I have been playing since I was 5-years-old. I also love to go hiking. Anywhere in the Gorge is beautiful.
