Hospital Attendant & Cat Advocate

Meet Stefanie, one of our Hospital Attendants. Stefanie has worked at Frontier since February 2014.

Hi Stefanie! So, do you go by Stefanie or do you have any nicknames?

Most people call me Stef, some call me Steffy, and when I was younger I had the nickname, Stefanie Rooster Fish (no idea how that started).

In your words, what is your job at Frontier?

My job at Frontier is Hospital Attendant, HA, so I care for all the wonderful animals of the hospital and the hospital itself. I love being able to care for all who come through the hospital and treat them as if they were my own! You may even catch me putting up new phrases on the sign board!

Why did you decide to work at Frontier?

I decided to work at Frontier because I love animals and missed having a job where I was able to work with them. Previously I had worked at two different boarding and daycare facilities, but I wanted something more challenging and meaningful where I’m able to not only love and care for, but truly help those who can’t always help themselves. Frontier has a strong community philosophy and I am very excited to be apart of this team and grow with them!

Do you have any pets?

I moved to Portland from Ohio in the winter of 2012, and left behind my childhood pets, a little white terrier mix named Twain and three cats Milo, Otis, and Frederika. Fortunately since moving to Oregon all of my roommates have had pets, from a pit bull, shepard mix, three cats, and three chickens. Now my current house pet is Findlay, a 3 year old blue heeler pit mix. Findlay’s favorite thing is to play fetch, lounge in the backyard, and go exploring around the area PNW area!

Tell us a little known fact about you!

A fun fact about me is that I’m a beekeeper! I’ve been keeping bees for the past 11 years, and it all started at on the roof of my Jr./Sr. High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Now in Portland, I work as a volunteer coordinator at Zenger Farm in the Lents neighborhood as a caretaker for the 9 honeybee hives.
