What should I do in the case of an emergency and Frontier is not open?

In an emergency: during normal business hours, please call 503-648-1643 or come directly into the Hospital. All other hours, please call Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital at 503-228-7281 (for directions see www.dovelewis.org).

Where is your hospital located?

Frontier Veterinary Hospital is located at 4500 NE Cornell Rd. in Hillsboro, Oregon -- approximately 1/4 mile east of the Hillsboro Airport, approximately 3 miles west of the Streets of Tanasbourne, and across Cornell Road from the Hillsboro Costco.

What types of payment do you accept?

Payment in full is required at the time services are rendered. A treatment plan with an estimate of charges is available prior to services, upon request, and for all surgery or extended care.

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and CareCredit.

Do you offer mail order prescription services?

Yes. If your pet has a refillable prescription currently on file, we can mail the refill to you for a small postage fee. To request a refill online, please visit our login to your Pet Portals page. Please allow at least 48 hours for a refill pick-up, and 4-6 business days for a mail order.

Our online pharmacy is an even better solution -- you can place any order here , and it will be directly filled and shipped to you by a source you can trust. The pharmacy is here in Portland, Oregon, and is the same supplier we use here at the hospital.

My pet is coming in for boarding soon, what should I do in preparation?

There are several steps to boarding your pet at Frontier Veterinary Hospital (FVH).

1.) Vaccinations: All pets boarding at FVH need to be up-to-date on the required vaccinations. For dogs, Bordatella (kennel cough) and DHP (Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvo), both very contagious, need to be given; for cats, we require FVRC and Panleukopenia. We recommend but do not require Rabies for both canines and felines. Please provide proof of vaccination at the time of drop-off. Vaccinations can be given here at the hospital, but a physical exam may be required for pets new to our clinic or those we have not seen in over a year.

2.) Food: We will provide a basic, nutritionally sound kibble for all pets under our care. If your pet is on a medical diet or has special needs, please bring any required items and we will ensure their diet remains stable.

3.) Medications: One of the benefits to boarding your pet at FVH is knowing that their medical needs can and will be taken care of. Our kennel staff is trained to give basic medication, and there is always a trained professional available to administer any needed injections, insulin or fluids. Please be sure to bring any medications your pet will need during their stay.  Medications need to be in their original bottle, complete with the label detailing the doctor's instructions.

4.) Bedding/Toys: FVH can provide plenty of bedding for your pet, but you are welcome to bring any blanket, bed or pillow that will increase your pet's comfort. Some animals enjoy having a familiar stuffed animal or toy with them. If the item is not machine washable, however, FVH reserves the right to subsitute our in-house bedding. Please note as well that some pets may become anxious and chew their bedding or toys during their stay, so you will be asked to sign a boarding release prior to FVH keeping these items in your pet's kennel.

5.) Check-in: It is our priority to make your pet's stay as comfortable and easy as possible.  With that in mind, we make sure to ask a variety of questions during the check-in procedure. Depending on the length of their stay and how many pets you'll be boarding with us, checking in your pet(s) can take awhile. To shorten the check-in procedure, you are welcome to fill out the required paperwork prior to the day you are dropping off -- please see our Forms page. Please allow at least 15 minutes to get your pet(s) completely checked in and settled, even if you are bringing in completed paperwork.

To schedule boarding or discuss your pet's special requirements, please call 503-648-1643, or email clientservices@frontiervet.com.

What is a Pet Portal, and how can I get one?

A Pet Portal is an online service, where owners can log into their personalized page to view their pet's vaccine information, check previous prescription and food information, and even request a non-urgent appointment or a prescription refill.

To sign up for a pet portal, all we need is your email address. You can request a portal either by emailing us, or by requesting a one through the Pet Portal Homepage.
